Disposal Not Working Humming
HELP! And it was a fix I was able to amaze my husband with, since he is NOT a handyman. It just isn't turning, even though it's not jammed, and is getting power. I pressed the reset button (I didn't even know there was one), and I did hear a whirring noise.

We were about to run out and buy a new one. Insinkerator Badger 5 Leaking From Bottom Started gearing up for the image of me, standing there in front of garbage disposals in HD. I'd it's say just over 1/2″.
Unfortunately one of my 2 boys drop a shot glass in the disposal and it broke inside.

Note: In the comments some folks have said it can take more vigorous repetition in some cases. All I'm saying is you may have to show that drain who's boss. She won't talk to me and said she paid $275 to fix it. You'll probably need to dismantle the drain pipe under the sink and use a drain auger to clear the clog. Smacked the housing around the motor lightly with a hammer and flipped the switch…abracadabra…working disposal!!
Obviously, it worked for me as well. Finally, I used a penlight, which allowed me to see better inside, and I realized that what I thought was a part of the disposal was actually a penny. I had a bunch of small pieces of gravel fall into the disposal and it caused the blades to stop, water to stop draining, and terrible smell to develop. Googled and found you post, did exactly what you said and she's grinding again!
