It appears 'Element not found' was telling me that my HD partition was not set to 'ACTIVE'. I would like to use both OS(cracked verison). Thanks ya'll and you do make a diff!!!!!! I havent made any changes in the past few weeks so I dont know what could have caused this.

The /rebuildbcd parameter can be very useful when you must fix some errors by completely rebuilding the BCD. Bcdboot C:\windows NOTE: Replace C with the drive letter where the system is installed. From that USB drive you will be able to access recovery options too. I've also tried the GUI tool. But I tried to repair by the first option listed again. (startup repair) Now it will restart and you must BOOT BACK INTO THE DISK!! That "Bcdboot C:\windows" line was what I needed in my case. Bootrec Commands

I had to mark it as "BOOT" using gparted (manage flags option) and then used the Windows 7 DVD - auto repair option. Fix Boot Windows 7 Without Disk There is also a great little utility "EasyBCD" which makes managing the BCD a lot easier, but I am not sure of it will run from windows repair command console. SoI bootedinto puppy live cd ->gparted and set the windows parition flag to boot...

If not, click Browse… and navigate to the blank floppy.
if anyone knows what dirvers i need or what to do plz help. and sure enough the vista loading screen pops up and its trying to load vista, but since i dont have vista on my computer, it goes to a black screen and I hope you find the article helpful. Help file says ScanOS shows installations that are not included in BCD, so I guess that's as documented although doesn't particularly make sense to me.
